NLB and Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) are partnering to co-develop the various learning focus areas - Digital, Career, Sustainability, Arts, Wellness, Science, Reading and Singapore. NYP will also introduce free taster programmes at public libraries, starting from November 2021.

|Taking Better Care of Your Mental Wellness
||This workshop aims to encourage a conversation on mental wellness among youths and young adults, thereby broadening their understanding of mental wellness. Participants will discuss and learn ways to manage their thoughts and emotions and are encouraged to take active steps to care for their mental wellbeing.
About The Speaker:
The team of socio-emotional counsellors in NYP supports students during their course of study, by working through any academic dilemmas, socio-emotional difficulties or mental health challenges faced by students. They bring a diversity of experiences & multitude of expertise in helping students to achieve their academic goals and mental well-being. The team believes that seeking help and attending to mental health takes courage which indicates strength in the individual.

|Healthy & Resilient Family
||The ageing of our society offers new opportunities to build healthier intergenerational family ties. This workshop will enable participants to build more resilient families by understanding the different family communication patterns. It includes an understanding of family typologies, communication behaviours and barriers to effective intergenerational communication. Join this workshop together as a family!
About The Speaker:
Mr Danial Sufyan is a Behavioural Science lecturer at NYP School of Health and Social Sciences. He holds a Master of Arts in Counselling and Guidance from the Nanyang Technological University - National Institute of Education, Singapore (NTU-NIE) and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sociology from Nanyang Technological University. During his time as a counsellor, he has worked with youths ranging from 13 to 17 years old as well as adults ranging from 25 to 45 years old. His current research interests are in the areas of Mental Health Sociology and Medical Sociology.
